Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI

MRI uses strong magnets to detect energy signals from your heart. As you lie on a small bed and move through a circular chamber, very clear pictures of your heart are produced. MRI images can find blockages in the coronary blood vessels at rest and after exercise or pharmacologic stress. Currently, MRI is not used very often to detect coronary artery disease as it is not yet available in every medical facility, but advances in this technology may make it more practical and affordable in the future.
